An exquisite antique French pendant consisting of an oval slab of 18ct yellow gold with a large leaf engraved on the front encrusted with twinkling rose cut diamonds, totalling approx. 0.90ct.
The rose cut has been around since the 16th Century and is recognised for its domed shape and neat triangular facets that are cut to resemble the petals of a rosebud. They were at the height of popularity in the Georgian and Victorian eras and were beloved for their enchanting sparkle that was said to dance by candlelight.
It’s a wonderful antique treasure, dating to the early 19th Century (Circa 1840) and hangs from an engraved loop at the top, dotted with three more diamonds with an 18ct Eagle mark on the back.
